About Us
Southern Cross Solar utilises technologically superior Solar products, creating Grid Interactive Systems that not only reduce the initial installation costs, but more importantly your carbon footprint and electricity bill.
Wes Shields of WLS Electrical Services P/L has been providing commercial and domestic electrical installation and repair services in the south eastern suburbs for over 18 years. Wes is pleased to announce the launch of Southern Cross Solar to specialize in the design and installation of grid connect and stand alone photovoltaic power systems in response to increasing demand for solar power.
As well as being a Registered Electrical Contractor and an A Grade Electrician, Wes is an accredited Solar Installer by the Clean Energy Council [Accreditation no P1721], and is qualified to carry out design and installation of solar panels for applicable Government rebates. Wes can also provide independent advice on Renewal Energy Certificates (REC’s) that are issued with approved solar system installations.
An average 1 k/W solar panel system can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 1.4 tonnes per year. An added advantage is that it is also equivalent to planting 80 trees per year, every year the system is generating
As energy costs keep increasing and technology improves, the acquisition of solar panels will be much more affordable. In an average day a basic 1KW solar system will collect an equivalent amount of power that would be used by 7 toasters in 1 hour. Longer, sunny days will provide more electricity, and a larger system will further increase output. The excess power produced by the solar system is either credited to the consumer or sold to the nominated energy retailer at an agreed rate (feed-in tariff), resulting in a reduction of your electricity bill. It is not necessary to have large batteries to store electricity in the urban area.
Not all houses have the best roof-to-sun alignment, and an individual design will ensure the maximum system output having regard for roof angle and adjacent shading. Older houses with brittle tiles need special attention in design and installation to prevent costly roof damage. The same special attention is needed on steeply pitched roofs.
Some older buildings have wiring that may not comply with current regulations and was not designed to accommodate modern electrical loads. Wes is licensed to inspect and upgrade all domestic and commercial electrical systems.
Southern Cross Solar is available to provide an expert design and installation service for domestic and commercial solar installations, and can advise on the appropriate systems for the most difficult locations. The business is located in the south eastern suburbs and can be relied on to continue to provide a personalized service and to be available at short notice for emergency service when required.
